Organic tri-color quinoa is a good introductory to quinoa if you haven't try it before! A mixture of white, red, and black quinoa, creating a nice blend of fluffy, nutty and chewy textures and tastes. Perfect on its own, or adding to soup and salad. While always misunderstood as a grain, quinoa is actually a plant member of the spinach, chard, and beet family, "pseudocereals." This plant family produces seeds and fruits that are similar to grains and used in virtually the same ways. It is high in protein, nutrients, and vitamins. Other common pseudocereals are amaranth and buckwheat. Organic, gluten-free, and gain-free! How to cook: Rinse your quinoa in running water, drain well. In a pot, combine 1:2 ratio quinoa : water(or stock), bring to boil. Let simmer uncovered for 10-15 mins, or until all water is absorbed, stir occasionally. Turn off the heat, cover for 5 minutes. Remove the lid and fluff with a fork. Tips: we love substituting water with stock/broth for more flavor!
