Campanini’s Black Rice is a deep purple, almost ebony whole grain rice known for its nutty aroma and slightly sweet flavor. Naturally high in antioxidants, it holds its shape beautifully when cooked, making it a striking alternative to brown or wild rice. Use it in salads, grain bowls, or as a base for fish and vegetable dishes. It takes a bit longer to cook — about 35-40 minutes — but rewards you with chewy texture and rich color that gives any rice-based dish a nice boost. About the producer: Riseria Campanini Northern Italy has been growing the world’s best risotto rice for centuries, and the fertile plains around Mantova are at the heart of that tradition. It’s here that the Campanini family have been selecting, milling, and packing 100% organic Italian rice for three generations, working with growers across Lombardy, Veneto, and Emilia to source the varieties each region grows best.  One detail we particularly like is how they handle traceability. Instead of mixing harvests together, Campanini stores paddy rice from each individual farm in separate silos, allowing every batch to be milled independently. That means more consistent cooking, complete traceability back to the farm (on the blockchain!), and rice that’s processed without chemical treatments while preserving the natural character of each variety. Pretty rare in the rice industry. The absolute peak choice for risotto, arancini, creamy rice puddings, minestrone / soups, or one-pot Italian rice dishes.
