8 Gyms to try in Bangkok

Leading a healthy lifestyle in Bangkok isn't just about eating right and avoiding junk food.  

 

A bit of exercise every week increases your body's immune system, makes you feel better physically, mentally and keeps you motivated to lead a healthier lifestyle.   With so many gyms in Bangkok to choose from, we've listed a few of our personal favourites including details of what they offer, prices and interactive Google maps to find them.m  

1. BASE

BASE is open 7 days a week and located right next to Thong Lor BTS. BASE is not your regular free weights gym, they runs several daily group classes and private sessions.  Classes range from HIIT, strength training to group classes that are suitable for all levels.

2. Ari Crossfit

  As their name suggests, Ari Crossfit focuses on the principles of crossfit training and specializes in fixing body imbalance and building athleticism. All lessons are crossfit based and they run yoga classes every Saturday.   We've trained here a few times and the workouts are tough and the trainers and students extremely nice and friendly, no wonder it’s called Bangkok’s most friendliest gym.   The gym is run by army Captain Sanpit.   If you want to train outside of classes, they run an open gym everyday from 10am-5:30pm.

3. Crossfit Ten500

  Crossfit Ten500 is run by our good friend Tommy and offers crossfit classes of all levels at his gym in Silom. Open 6 days as week, Crossfit Ten500 runs 5 classes per day Monday-Friday and an open gym outside of class hours.   All classes are taught in English and most instructors are bilingual.

4. Training Ground

  Training Ground is the biggest bootcamp in Asia and a world-class gym aimed at athletes. As well as having a traditional free weights gym, they offer crossfit, movement foundations and a bootcamp which is designed to get you in the best shape of your life.

5. Aspire Club

  Aspire Club is located next to Asoke BTS and run numerous classes from HIIT, crossfit to outdoor bootcamps. Their weekly schedule can be found online with lessons start from 6am in the morning. Aspire Club is open 7 days a week.

6. Racquet Club

The Racquet club is an all purpose fitness center that has its free weights gym, a number of racket courts, two swimming pools, rock climbing wall and runs all kinds of lessons for all members including yoga and spin class. Lessons are not always in English.  

  • Price: A day pass starts at 450 baht and yearly membership is 21,400 baht.

7. Virgin Active

Virgin Active recently opened up in the new Emquartier Mall in 2015 (there's 3 locations in total) which includes a rock climbing wall, swimming pool, fully stocked gym, fitness club, several daily classes and sleep pods if you need to rest after an intense workout.

  • Price: Virgin Active offers a number of memberships from pay as you go to yearly contracts starting from 25,200 baht upwards.

8. GuavaPass

If none of the gyms above take your fancy, you would like a more flexible routine or not be tied down to a single gym, you should look into a GuavaPass.  

A GuavaPass is a monthly membership pass to more than a dozen Bangkok gyms, yoga classes and fitness studios. With a pass you can visit any of their partner gyms for free.   If you want to take part in a class, you simply register through the website and turn up. Almost every gym listed in this article can be used with GuavaPass.
